I have been in a whirlwind of all things Minecraft since Boober started playing. He had been begging to play for months. I was extremely hesitant about it, knowing that it isn’t intended for his age group and could be played multiplayer. I was under the impression that I could not turn off the multi-player feature. Obviously at his age, I am very weary of him on the internet. We have since discovered Minecraft:Pocket Addition which he can play on his Kindle.
One of the things I love about the Kindle Fire is that you are able to set time limits and goals for the day. I have set Boober up so he is only allowed to play certain times of the day, and for a limited amount of time. I have control over his access to the internet and I can set goals for him to meet before his kindle unlocks Minecraft. This has cut down on arguing about when he is allowed to play. He knows now that he has to read for 30 minutes before he can play Minecraft and once his time is up then it’s up, no arguing.
To help encourage him on the math front a little bit, I created a small math pack for us to do this week. I thought I would share it here with all the other Minecrafters!
