Fun Hands on Homeschool Bible Curriculum: Grapevine Studies Review

Grapevine Studies is an amazing curriculum where the tagline is the fun premise “stick figuring through the bible”. I was lucky enough receive a copy of this curriculum for review. Together we read the scripture (or I read aloud to them) and then I use our whiteboard to draw a stick figure scene to illustrate to the children. You will need a bible to use this curriculum but you will receive a teacher’s manual to print that outlines lesson plans and gives key points to take from lessons. You will also receive the student manual to print. I printed everything right away and paper clipped each lesson individually to get started. Oh, and before I forget it helps to have crayons or colored pencils for the student!

I was also lucky enough to get two copies of this curriculum (Beginner and Beginner Traceable) for Boober, my oldest and Red my tot. I thought that Red might do ok with the Traceable version of this curriculum she did not. She sat and listened and colored over the images but expecting her to trace was probably a bit crazy on my part. Boober, however, tried both the traceable and the beginner version. He used the traceable version he tried to help his sister the first few lessons, and the version in which he draws his own scene. If I was not lucky enough to have been given two copies to review and was unsure I would use the traceable version for sure.

The New Testament Overview Part 1 studies the new testament from the birth of John and the early ministry of Jesus. The lessons are: The Birth of John, The Announcement, The Birth of Jesus, The Angels and the Shepards, The Wise Men and Herod, Jesus at the Temple, John Prepared the People, John Baptized Jesus, Jesus was Tempted and there is a review about halfway through and at the end.

This study can be done daily or weekly. We did the weekly study. At the end of the lessons, you have reviews. I usually shy away from reviews but I was interested in knowing how much Boober was retaining. He did really well! Grapevine gives a teaching manual to help guide you through the curriculum.

The thing I loved most about Grapevine was the stick figures. My son absolutely loves drawing. We had a lot of fun with the visual side of the study. The art aspect of this curriculum I feel really keeps the student engaged. If you are looking for a bible curriculum that will not only teach your child about Jesus Christ but keep them engaged and absorbing the stories, this is it. Watching them draw the scene is a great way to see how well they have listened but it also opens up more dialogue for a continued conversation. I highly recommend this engaging and entertaining bible study!

Grapevine was a blessing for my kinesthetic little guy. How fun that he was able to draw the bible lesson as we studied! He absolutely love the study and I can't wait to get started on our next study with Grapevine!
We used the following curriculum: NEW TESTAMENT OVERVIEW – PART 1 – BEGINNER students will journey through the birth of John and Jesus early ministry through 11 weekly lessons or 22 daily lessons. You can find more about Grapevine here:
