If you live in the Northeast and your family’s considering doing the road trip, I strongly suggest you think about Philadelphia. There are so many places to go in Philadelphia for a family that all relatively inexpensive. My top stops are:

The Philadelphia Zoo

The Please Touch Museum

The Franklin Institute

Academy of Natural Sciences

Wagner Free Institute of Science

Eastern State Penitentiary

Adventure Aquarium

Liberty Bell Center

And so many many more places that it’s impossible to list!

Philadelphia is also CityPASS City which makes the planning a vacation very easy.  CityPASS offers 5 different attractions for the price of one pass. Philadelphia Pass includes the Franklin Institute, the Please Touch Museum or Eastern State, the Zoo or Constitution Center and Adventure Aquarium as well as a pass for the Trolley Works or Big Bus Company Double Decker buses.

Then if you are ready to eat the options for food are endless- although I highly recommend you not leave Philly without a cheese steak, because come on, it’s Philly! Most people I know will tell you to go to Tony Luke’s but everyone has a different opinion on the subject of “who has the best cheese steak in Philly”.

I also highly recommend you check out the Reading Terminal Market. It offers a wide selection of food and deserts but it’s such a great place to take in a little shopping.  I love Reading Terminal Market for its variety and the fact that its all local culture. Everything there is delicious and freshly prepared.

Philadelphia is a perfect road trip for any family. It offers attraction for the history buff, the science lover, the budding entomologist in your family. Philadelphia offers so much more then I have even been able to go over. Please do your research and find the great places that the city has to offer!

Philadelphia Pa, a great road trip for any member of the family.

  1. I’ve always wanted to visit Philidelphia everywhere I travelled around the world I always met someone from there that would say you must see this or you must see that. I love the idea of the city pass we have them for London here as well and they are such good value.
