Teaching By Example: A PrAna Review
As homeschoolers, the joke often goes that we’re always in our yoga pants. I recently had the opportunity to review the clothing line PrAna. This company is known for their yoga wear and I was very excited for the opportunity- and not because I am always in my yoga pants.
Being more than just about yoga though PrAna, has a mission that I can really stand behind. They have company values that stand out to me as a clothing store. Seeking out fair trade and sustainable material getting to do the review for PrAna gave me the opportunity to teach my children about where clothing comes from and being responsible consumers.
PrAna stands out to me with their mission statement:
Mindfulness is at the core of everything we do, and here and now is where change happens. Everyone in our company owns a piece of our process: Every decision, every product, every day. We know that what we make and how we make it affects the whole ecosystem…
We haven’t found all the answers, but we will always be asking questions. Even our best efforts have only scratched the surface of what is possible, and we remain dedicated to our ideals of the community, sustainability, and mindful action.
I see that mission statement they are a truly intentional company. they have a number of initiatives for both sustainability of the environment and fair wages to laborers involved in the making of PRAna’s clothing.
The clothing I received from them included the Kara Jean and the Sutra Shirt. I chose the Sutra shirt in the color “nautical” and ordered a medium. When it arrived I loved the lovely way it was packaged and I was so excited to try everything on. I really should have photographed the package. It was like getting a present! When I opened it I immediately noted the wooden buttons. I loved the look against the blue of the shirt. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. It wasn’t tight and it wasn’t baggy. I still have a little weight from having the baby in June so I was worried it was going to be tight.

I ordered the Kara Jeans in size 6 in Marigold Mixer. I thought it would look amazing with the top I ordered. I’ve worn it several times since purchasing and I was worried about fade with the pants I ordered being a bright yellow. I held up after at least 5 washings now. I really love how well it fits. The jeans have just enough stretch to them, really like that because sometimes I feel like with all the bending down to pick up kids and running after kids I do, I could use a little stretch and forgiveness to my jeans.
Overall this was a great company to work with, with fantastic values and I really enjoyed the quality clothing that I received from them. I truly believe in purchasing quality clothing over inexpensive clothing- they last much longer and save money in the long run. I believe that supporting companies values and with quality products is important. I will definitely be ordering another pair of Kara Jeans, they are my new favorite!
