Using MySchoolYear.com To Meet State Regulations
This week the TOS Review Crew had the opportunity to review My School Year (Homeschool Record Keeping) from MySchoolYear.com. I was lucky enough to be chosen to do a review. Which is fantastic because all of you are well aware I have a planner addiction! As a matter of fact, if you asked me how many I have at the moment I’ve lost count.
The thing I really like about this planner is it’s online, so there’s no way I can lose it. There was a bit of a learning curve when I first started using the program. MySchoolYear.com also has a feature called Teacher’s Aide. This feature really walks you through everything and makes it super easy. There are plenty of tutorials to help make it easier on non-techie people like me. It takes all I have just to run my blog, let alone trying to learn something like this. The tutorials really helped.
Using My School Year For Year-Round Homeschooling
We are year round homeschoolers and start back in August! Since we’re in the middle of OUR summer break, I really didn’t have a lot to schedule initially. What I did for this review was I started to plan and schedule our fall semester. I outlined our class schedule for the year and was able to break it up by quarter.
I like to plan by quarter because it makes it easier to break our goals up into “bite-sized” chunks. This online planner made it easier to break up our year in this manner. I was able to schedule breaks as needed as well.
One thing I didn’t start doing it was adding our assignments because it’s so far ahead. I did play around with the functionality of that feature. You are able to enter your own lesson plans and assignments for the day. I really like the feature that MySchoolYear.com has, which emails you your lessons for the week. I felt as though that created a sense of accountability on my behalf. It’s something that my other planners don’t have, both paper and online.
How My School Year Can Help You Meet State Regulations
Where we live we are required to homeschool for a total of 180 days, this planner tracks attendance which I really like. I’m also able to search class lessons filter through them insert them the way that I need.
When I look at my plan book, just in a glance, I can see anything that might be overdue or ready to be completed. Overall this is just a really cool homeschool planner. I’m really looking forward to using this more come August.
